Featuring Keynote Speaker: Darcy Hager-Slavin, founder of the Slavin Memorial Fund.
Darcy has lived with loss in her personal life. In June of 2017, Darcy’s life was shattered when she lost her husband of 21 years to suicide. Joe was her best friend and the father of her three beautiful daughters. Darcy has learned that mental illness has no boundaries and does not discriminate. She’s become very passionate about getting more people to openly discuss mental health and letting it be known that ‘it’s okay to not be okay.’ Joe was dedicated to making connections with kids through teaching and coaching. He worked as a principal in ISD 622 and was a school board member and parent in ISD 833. Through this loss, Darcy has worked with her family and friends to increase mental health awareness in School Districts #622 and #833 by partnering with Youth Service Bureau. Working with YSB has allowed Darcy, along with her family and friends, to educate others so they can recognize mental illness and confidently seek help.
Youth Speaker: Sydney Isaacson will talk about the powerful ways that staff at YSB have changed her life in her speech “Thankful.”
