Chemical Health Clinical Specialist

Reports to: Chemical Health Supervisor
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview: A successful Chemical Health Specialist will be enthusiastic in providing high-quality and innovative services while coordinating with school and community partners.

The Chemical health Specialist will provide direct clinical-services in multiple schools of ISD 833. This includes providing chemical-use screening, early intervention, and related support services to students and their families in collaboration with local schools and communities.

It is a 9.5 month full-time, school-year-based, nonexempt position that will deliver services in multiple schools simultaneously. The position will start mid-August, 2018.

Principal Responsibilities:
• Provide chemical use pre-assessments and related short-term individual
counseling, referrals, and follow-up to students and their families
• Participate in scheduled student support team meetings at assigned schools and
provide effective consultation with school partners.
• Demonstrate leadership in collaborating with a wide range of youth serving
organizations, school districts, and local community organizations.
• Assist students and their families with transitions into, or back from, chemical
health treatment.
• Provide various support groups based on student need (e.g. sober-support,
concerned-persons, risk-reduction, etc.)
• Engage parents to support youth and make appropriate referrals to outside
resources such as mental health therapy and other chemical health support.
• Regular travel to multiple school locations is associated with this position.
• Participate in regular supervision meetings; gathering and reporting of various
outcome data; and maintaining records and entering timely, accurate data.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. in Psychology, Social Work, or health services related field; Master’s
degree preferred.
• LADC or AODA licensure.
• Previous experience working in educational settings.
• 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth or families
• Cultural competency and experience is desired.
• Flexible in providing services in multiple sites with varying needs and structures.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize/manage multiple tasks.
• Previous experience working in multiple school settings simultaneously.
• Knowledge of local substance use resources.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance and daily access to an automobile.

Administrative Assistant

Reports to: Development Director
Exempt Status:  Non Exempt

Position Overview: The Administrative Assistant connects the public to agency programs and activities and provides specialized administrative support to site staff. This position supports several departments and performs administrative tasks as assigned.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to therapy and other program staff.
  • Provide administrative support to management team members.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls and provide telephone backup to other YSB office locations.
  • Connect clients to services; greet guests, register clients, collect and record payments for services, schedule clients for services and space for community use.
  • Tabulate and record all BASC responses and site generated program evaluation tools.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment or service problems and secure authorized maintenance and repairs.
  • Keep reception areas and public meeting spaces neat, orderly and family friendly.
  • Prepare meeting spaces and refreshments for agency meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Site-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Therapy Department intake coordinator, manage insurance verification and assist with all initial therapy appointments. (Cottage Grove)
  • Available two evenings per week. (Cottage Grove)

Requirements & Qualifications

  • High School diploma, college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years of administrative experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and FileMaker Pro.
  • Experience with web-based electronic health record software. Procentive preferred.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a variety of on-going tasks and projects.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict management skills, especially while working with clients under stress.
  • Ability to protect and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and daily access to an automobile.

Event Advisory Committee Volunteer

Position Overview: Events are crucial to raising funds and support for YSB- including our new expansion campaign to grow mental health and chemical health services across Washington County! As an Event Advisory Committee Volunteer, you will play an important role in making our events a success. A variety of opportunities are available throughout the year.

Time and Place:
Planning meetings will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, from 4:30 to 6:00pm.
